The Santa Barbara Woman's Club was founded in 1892 as a social club with the purpose of advancing the civic and cultural enlightenment of its members. The Club met continuously at various locations until purchasing its current property in 1927. For more than twelve decades the Club has fulfilled its purpose with lectures, musical performances, author presentations, speakers from local nonprofit organizations, parties and luncheons for members. The Club is widely known for its Wednesday afternoon teas and annual Fiesta program, La Merienda. Members also enjoy book presentations, Mah Jongg, yoga class, jewelry making, and urban sketching.
