Santa Barbara High School Water Polo

Santa Barbara High School Water Polo is home to two competitive and tradition-rich programs — Boys and Girls — united by a shared commitment to hard work, teamwork, and representing SBHS with pride.

Santa Barbara High School Water Polo

The Girls Water Polo program competes in the winter season and offers both Junior Varsity and Varsity levels. The Varsity squad travels to major tournaments throughout Orange County, regularly facing some of the top teams in the state. In 2019, the team reached the CIF Division 2 semi-finals — a milestone that reflects the program’s competitive drive and ongoing pursuit of excellence. The Junior Varsity team plays a full schedule and competes in local tournaments, providing developing athletes with meaningful game experience and growth opportunities.

The Boys Water Polo program competes in the fall and offers three levels: Frosh/Soph, Junior Varsity, and Varsity. The program proudly hosts some of the area’s largest home tournaments, giving athletes the opportunity to compete in front of the Santa Barbara community. In 2019, the Varsity team captured the CIF Championship — a legacy the program continues to build upon each season.

Both programs emphasize skill development, team culture, and year-round growth. Summer training begins in early to mid-June and runs through July, welcoming both returning and new athletes. These sessions focus on conditioning, fundamentals, game play, and team bonding, culminating in competitive tournament opportunities for committed players. Incoming freshmen are strongly encouraged to participate as a way to meet teammates and prepare for the high school season.

Whether you’re new to the sport or an experienced competitor, Santa Barbara High School Water Polo offers a place to challenge yourself, grow as an athlete, and be part of something bigger.

Join the team. Compete with pride. Represent SBHS in the pool.
