Thousands filled Alameda Park on Saturday, October 18, as Indivisible Santa Barbara hosted a large rally and march as part of the nationwide “No Kings Day of Peaceful Action.” The Santa Barbara event was one of more than 2,500 demonstrations held across the country protesting what organizers describe as authoritarian overreach by the Trump administration.

The rally began at noon with speeches from Congressmember Salud Carbajal, State Assemblymember Gregg Hart, and representatives from the Immigration Legal Defense Center, 805 Undocufund, and Planned Parenthood. Afterward, participants marched from Alameda Park down Anacapa Street to De la Guerra Plaza — and then continued up State Street to complete a 14-block loop.

The event remained peaceful throughout, with Santa Barbara Police managing street closures and firefighters on hand for support. No counter-protesters or Trump supporters were seen among the crowd.

Signs reflected a range of messages — from “No Kings” and “Stop Corruption” to calls for kindness, healthcare access, immigrant rights, and opposition to ICE activity. Organizers had anticipated around 15,000 attendees, but early estimates suggest the turnout likely exceeded that number.

EventVault will feature additional video coverage and a photo gallery from the day’s rally and march.
