Kenya’s Hellen Obiri shattered a 22-year-old course record, winning her second women’s open title in 2:19:51, while compatriot Benson Kipruto edged out Alexander Mutiso by just three-tenths of a second in the closest men’s finish in marathon history.

In the wheelchair divisions, Marcel Hug claimed his seventh New York City Marathon title, and Susannah Scaronisuccessfully defended her crown, leading a stacked women’s field.

The marathon also celebrated inspiring stories from across the globe — from Paralympian Ali Truwit, who ran just a year after surviving a shark attack, to “Hamilton” star Anthony Ramos, and Natalie Hall, who continues to run while undergoing treatment for stage 4 cancer.

Produced by New York Road Runners (NYRR), the marathon remains one of the most inclusive sporting events in the world — uniting elite athletes, everyday runners, and millions of cheering fans across all five boroughs.
