L&N Federal Credit Union Arena: A Powerhouse Venue for Louisville Cardinals Volleyball
The University of Louisville takes pride in its L&N Federal Credit Union Arena, a premier volleyball facility that offers the Cardinals a significant home court advantage. Following a major renovation in the summer of 2017, the arena has been transformed into a state-of-the-art venue dedicated exclusively to volleyball.
Originally known as Cardinal Arena, the facility was rechristened L&N Federal Credit Union Arena on April 18, 2019, after a generous $2 million donation from the L&N Federal Credit Union. This cooperative and not-for-profit financial institution, based in Louisville, has contributed significantly to the university's athletics programs.
Unique among collegiate sports venues, the L&N Federal Credit Union Arena is a volleyball-only facility. The renovation expanded its seating capacity, including new end zone seats that form an elevated mezzanine, enhancing the spectator experience. The arena also boasts a new Teraflex floor, providing an optimal surface for high-level volleyball play.
The refurbishment extended beyond the court, with updates to the locker rooms, training room, players' lounge, and common areas. Additionally, the entrance and lobby were retooled, featuring a remodeled concession counter. This full-service facility offers an array of food, soft drinks, and beer, contributing to a vibrant game day atmosphere.

Since its first celebrated volleyball win on Aug. 31, 1991, against Morehead State, the Cardinals have maintained an impressive 87 percent winning record in the arena as of the 2017 season.
